System change Not Climate change

Sustainable Fashion

The first-hand fashion industry is not only creating modern-day vage slavery but is fueling the climate crisis. The resources that fast fashion is consuming are immoral and our consumer behavior needs to change! „uPSYcle the system“ is creating a circular economy yes fashion produced under fair conditions and using up-cycled materials!

Art

My art is political trying to laugh at very serious issues and therefore transcend the fear. Or it is reflecting the psychedelic beauty of nature. You can purchase the prints in our shops on the markets in Berlin, in the store in Vienna (Aurin-shop), or in our Etsy shop.

Social responsibility & Activism

Malawi is in need of jobs not only any job but jobs that are paid fair and on top of that are good for the environment. „Upsycle the system“ is dedicated to creating jobs on an even bigger scale in the future as of now we work together with a hand full of individuals in Malawi's capital Lilongwe.

None of our tailors are working for the minimum wage and food and transport are paid for them. On top of that, they can choose for themselves if they want to work 5 days a week or 6. In the case of an operation or health emergency, we will have their back and pay for the medical expenses.

By 2023 our goal is to have a small factory in Malawi where our clothes are manufactured and women in need of jobs are being trained in tailor skills by our professional tailors. Everyone will get a working contract and medical insurance.

Each trip to Malawi is combined with social endeavors such as brining education, helping people in need, and planting trees. To sustain this projects I collected donations from my friend in the past and want to start collecting donations also from people who I don’t know in the future. You get my word and G-D is my witness that 100% of your donations arrive at the people in need. My last trips to Malawi and the social missions are all documented on my private Facebook account. In the future, we want to guarantee every customer that if they spend more than 50 euros on our company a fruit tree is gonna be planted for them in Malawi. This mission will be shown publicly and transparent for everyone to see on our social media and our webpage.

In my free time, I am trying my best to raise awareness of social issues but especially the climate crisis. I have been part of taking on actions with „extinction rebellion“, „Fridays for future“, religions for future“and much more. I hope that my company will make a change in consumer awareness and maybe encourage other people to join the climate justice movement which will lead to global social justice!

About Us

Hi my name is Issa and I am a designer and artist and the founder of „upsycle the system“. „Upsycle the system“ is designer fashion out of 100% up-cycled materials, fair produced in Africa and sold at a discounted price! Africa is doing a huge job in the fight against climate change. Africa is recycling our cars, our electronics, and our clothes, curtains, etc. We use these materials such as second-hand jeans and transform them into new designs. In this process, a circular economy (contrary to the linear economy of Neo-liberal capitalism) is developed and green jobs in Africa are created.

We buy the up-cycled fabrics for a fair price in the country of Malawi from different small business owners and then those fabrics are manufactured under fair conditions into new clothes.

A first-hand t-shirt uses 2700 Liters of water an amount of water that can provide a person with one and a half years amount of drinking water.
The majority of our designs are unisex and oversize which makes them into an ideal gift. Our vision is a win-win situation and to bring industry yes green jobs to Malawi.

Please follow us on Instagram and Facebook.
Since April you find us on sunny days every Sunday @ Mauerpark- market in Berlin, Germany. Check out our Instagram to find out where exactly on the market you find us.

In Austria, our designs are available @ Aurin- shop in Vienna on the 7th district. And some of our designs are available on Etsy an online-shop platform.

We plan to distribute our clothes to private individuals who will get a „loan“ in the form of clothes. We give those individuals 3 months time to sell the clothes and the profit is shared 50/50. If after 3 months they didn’t sell anything the only financial risk they take is the posting to send the clothes back to us. This is a great opportunity for example for single-raising mothers who work part-time and need to make an extra income from home. They can invite their friends and neighbors and sell our clothes in a private setting inside their living room or on local markets.
The „legal framework“ for this vision of distribution needs to be set by lawyers who will work on contracts realistically, we will only start in 2023 with fulfilling this mission!
